...awkward turtle

Awkward things amuse me.

Public restrooms. Awkward. The whole oh-crap-there's-no-toilet-paper-and-I'm-already-on-the-bowl-"hey-stall-neighbor-wanna-hand-me-a-wad?"-thing....awkward. What about girls who spend entirely way too much time in front of the mirror? Oh, I want to wash my hands but this chick in front of me has to swish her hair the right- no, left- first and make sure her butt looks OK in those jeans. The hair to the left isn't working now- maybe behind the ears? Nah. Let's think about it a little longer. Talking on the phone- although I am guilty of this in my own home, public restrooms are just not a place for this, period. No one wants to hear that.

Seeing friends from high school. Although I love these rare run-ins, you have to admit they are undoubtedly and ridiculously awkward. "Hi! Wow, how are you- oh we said that at the same time- you first- I'm good, how are you, I'm good...::insert deafening silence here... grasshoppers and pins dropping...:: Alright well it was really good seeing you, we should get together and catch up sometime! Yea, definitely! Bye! Oh- we said that at the same time again!"

[... I am going to keep adding to this as I think of more, PLEASE post ideas and stories! I want to hear!!!]

No Title

So today I got on the bus like usual but when I went to put the token in the token-collector-thingy, the bus driver put his hand over it and looked at me and said something but I couldn't hear him. So I took off my headphones and said, "sorry?" to which he replied something else in a low voice- he kept mumbling things and smiling and all I got was "are you taking this bus, do you want to take another bus, where are you going, no, no." I feel like this would be an entirely different situation if he didn't speak english fluently, but he did. So I kind of just stood there in the front of the bus, awkwardly, trying to understand what he was saying to me. I said a couple of times, "what? I'm going to 7th. This goes to 7th right? I don't understand what you are saying." Finally a guy behind me said, "he's trying to tell you that it's broken." Oh. OK. Well maybe he could've said, "it's broken"at a generally audible volume. That would've helped, just a bit. He just laughed after that, and I sort of felt like an idiot. Then, when I got off, I said "thank you," and he just laughed. Very strange. But hey, I got a free bus ride!

Buh-logging

Wow I really suck at blogging. Even with updadating the blog for my class, terrible. I guess I feel like maybe I don't really have that much to share, especially since this is open to anyone! I like to write down what is going on in my head, but having it open to the public feels so strange. So... invasive! But I'm trying it because I am practicing trying new things, and blogging seems to be "the" thing right now. It's definitely a good way of getting your voice heard, since anyone and their mother can read it. But at the same time, everyone blogs so what are the odds that this voice you're expressing is significant? Maybe I will post things that aren't necessarily personal or about me. I will just write. Who knows if anyone is actually reading this anyway?

Much love,
Natalie

Famiglia

Some of these pictures are really old, but I was going through my hard drive and came across some good ones, I think. What a photogenic family, wouldn't you say?

Learning Camrynese & Fionese

I had an amazing and, to say the least, interesting summer. Watching these two wonderful children 24/5 was an experience categorized entirely unto itself. I am hitting myself for not writing down the words and games that would come from their imaginations! I am not exxagerating when I say these two were completely content jumping off the couches on to a "pillow castle" they created from ALL of the pillows and cushions of the couches. ...Now we all know the rules about jumping on the couch don't we? So when I would limit this, oh the cries!!! You can imagine.

For now, ta-ta, but when I remember more from this past adventurous summer I will post again!

A relaxing day.

I let them play with tape and this was the outcome.

What?

NonDescript

Can you see the man's profile in the shadow? I enjoy this irony.

Oh, Audrey! Gotta love Audrey.

GRITS. Girls Raised In The South! I had a bit of an explosion-related accident here.

The crab remains. The same.

Drive by shooting- photo taken out of car window. Fun stuff.

Backyard sky, long exposures.

On the road again.
